What is the US Action Rifle Match Society?

The US Action Rifle Match Society is a competitive action shooting sport for rifles. It is the newest and fastest growing action shooting sport in the nation and the only one to include classifications for shooters with disabilities. It is a safe and fun way to improve gun handling and shooting skills with like-minded people.


Do I have to be a member to shoot a US ARMS match?

No you do not have to be a member to shoot your first local match. Non members may shoot two US ARMS matches as our guest. Membership is required to shoot in all major US ARMS matches.

Can I obtain membership at the event or should I do so online?

Joining online is the easiest way and surest way. Membership are avaible at matches but these are very busy and may not have internet available to complete your memership.

How much does a membership cost?

Memberships cost $25 per year.


What equipment do I need to shoot a match?

Required Equipment
  • Semi-Automatic Rifle
  • Three Magazines
  • Chamber Flag
  • Ear and Eye Protection
  • Magazine Carrier (recommended)
  • Rifle Case (recommended)

How many magazines do I need?

US ARMS allows you to have 3 magazines with you during a course of fire. Most shooters bring a couple extra in case of malfunction or to reduce time spent reloading magazines between stages.

Can I shoot my Short Barrel Rifle (SBR) in a match?

Yes you can!

Can I use a suppressor?

Yes you can! Well, subject to some practical considerations (e.g. no sub-sonic ammo). Check out the rule book for the details.


How long will the match last?

Most indoor matches last 2 to 3 hours. Outdoor matches may last much longer depending on the number of shooters and Courses of Fire. Contact the local Match Director for exact details.

How can I start a club?

Go to our New Club Signup page to form a club at your local range. The cost is $50 per year and comes with lots great benifits including predefined stages!
